Here's the video comparing the three in terms of FPS.
From left to right respectively: Bandicam, Dxtory, Fraps.
I would love to use Fraps even if it costs 100 GB but the software does not support multi-channel audio (I'm not sure how it's called but it's like in-game audio and microphone audio separated when editing). I usually used Bandicam as my recording software when playing GTA V because Dxtory would crash the game. But after the fix (in which I updated Dxtory), I used Dxtory but I couldn't take a screenshot with it in-game (happens sometimes). And when I record using Dxtory, it feels choppy when I'm playing (Idk, that's probably just me).
Here are more details regarding the three:
Software ------- Lowest FPS ------ Average FPS ------ Highest FPS
Bandicam: 23 44 58
Dxtory: 27 42 56
Fraps: 29 51 60
Every 5 Seconds - FPS
There are 10 in total, the last ones are the last FPS when the recording ended.
Bandicam: 31, 48, 37, 42, 44, 23, 45, 29, 36, 38 = 37.3 (Average)
Dxtory: 38, 46, 41, 42, 43, 27, 41, 32, 39, 37 = 38.8 (Average)
Fraps: 36, 46, 44, 50, 50, 29, 52, 34, 44, 44 = 42.9 (Average)
With a lot of High FPS: Fraps
With a lot of Low FPS: Bandicam
File Size (estimates):
Bandicam = 597 MB
Dxtory = 1.57 GB
Fraps = 2.73 GB
So in conclusion, if you want smooth gameplay while recording and you have a good mic or not bothered about using Audacity with it, Fraps is what you should use. On the other hand, use Bandicam for small file sizes or desktop tutorial videos and Dxtory for more Audio Channels (like Skype calls).
